The Challenge:

An ambitious undertaking to redesign the entire American Forces Network (AFN) website for the Dept. of Defense. The main goal was to increase traffic by bringing the site up-to-date with the latest technologies and improve the usability. AFN is responsible for acquiring tv shows, movies and radio entertainment and broadcasting it to troops and their families stationed all over the globe.

I created an over 30 page site using DHTML, XHTML, HTML, CSS, Actionscript, Javascript, Flash embedded sections, and a custom CMS and video player. It was a hugely successful site launch increasing traffic by over 30% and was a site the entire Department was proud of.

Wireframes:

For such a large-scale site with many required pages and links, it was necessary to create wireframes which went through many revisions and required additions before being finalized.

Additional Page Designs:

Each one of the AFN channels required it’s own page as well as the interactive schedule pages. Here are a few of the alternate page designs, more can be viewed from the Launch Project link.
